Three Straight: Team Dragons Win the $25K Cash Cup #4

Team Dragons have done it again. Tana, Astonish2k, dust and Scummy won the Americas title at Battlefield REDSEC’s $25,000 Cash Cup #4 on October 10, completing a run of three consecutive Cash Cup victories. This time, the final score left little room to spare.

Dragons finished the six-game final with 153 points, 78 kills and two match wins, beating Grimm by seven points. Grimm took second with 146 points, while Noble Dynasty finished third on 137. The victory earns Dragons the event’s $10,000 first-place prize from the $25,000 Americas prize pool.

Getting there meant working through a field of 90 squads and two qualifying rounds before facing the remaining 23 teams in the final. Dragons arrived with two recent titles behind them, but their opening games gave their rivals an opportunity.

A seventh-place finish with 20 kills gave Dragons a useful start. Game 2 was much leaner: eighth place and just two kills. Adding those results together put them on 34 points after two games, well behind Noble Dynasty’s 73. There was plenty of tournament left, but Dragons needed a bigger return from the next match.

They got it in Game 3. Dragons won with 26 kills, producing a 48-point result that brought them straight back into contention. All four players contributed: dust finished with eight kills, Tana seven, Astonish2k six and Scummy five. Astonish2k also dealt a lobby-leading 2,408 damage, while dust recorded 11 assists. That result put Dragons level with Noble Dynasty on 82 points after three games.

Third place with six kills followed in Game 4. That kept Dragons close, although the cumulative scores still had Noble Dynasty narrowly ahead, with The BOYS also in the race. Going into the fifth game, first place remained unsettled.

Then Dragons delivered their second match win. An 18-kill victory in Game 5 added another 40 points. Scummy led the squad with seven kills and two revives, dust added six kills, and Tana contributed four. Astonish2k finished with one kill and 1,582 damage, second on the squad behind dust’s 1,678.

Adding up the first five games left Dragons on 142 points, ahead of Noble Dynasty on 121 and Grimm on 110. They had built a cushion, but the final game still mattered.

Grimm made a serious last push, winning Game 6 with 14 kills for a 36-point haul. Dragons finished eighth with six kills, earning 11 points. Grimm had cut 25 points from the gap between the two teams in a single match. Dragons’ earlier results held up, leaving them seven points clear when the final standings were complete.

The player totals show how the workload was shared across the day:

PlayerKills across all 14 gamesKills in the six-game finalAverage damage per game across the event
dust81261,216
Tana6421957
Astonish2k61161,507
Scummy59151,086

These figures combine the qualifying rounds and final where indicated; final kills cover only the championship round.

Dust was Dragons’ leading scorer in kills, and RDSC’s event summary lists his 81 as the highest total of any player in the tournament. His contribution carried into the final, where he recorded a third of the team’s 78 kills. Eight came in the Game 3 victory, followed by six in their second win.

Tana finished second on the team in both overall and final kills. Astonish2k led Dragons in average damage across the event, while Scummy supplied the squad’s highest kill count in Game 5. The two winning matches had different leading scorers, giving Dragons contributions from across the lineup when they needed points most.

The streak now covers Cash Cups #2, #3 and #4. Dragons won the second event by 94 points and the third by 37. Their latest victory was much closer, but it carries the largest first-place award of the three. Combined with the $4,000 prizes from each previous win, this result brings their first-place prize total across the streak to $18,000.

Dragons close the Cash Cup series with three straight titles. The lasting detail from this final is how close Grimm came at the end: two big match wins had given Dragons enough points to withstand that late surge and finish as champions.
